Australia's best wagon gets better with Volkswagen's release of its Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition.
Two-hundred-and-fifty examples of this all-wheel-drive, off-road wagon are available, bringing a swag of extra features over the standard Passat Alltrack.
These include: Active Info Display; Adaptive Chassis Control; 19-inch Albertville alloys; LED head-, tail- and daytime running lights; gear-shifting paddles and easy open/close tailgate.
Visual enhancements run to: ambient lighting interior; 65% light absorbing tinted rear windows; black headliner; aluminium 'wave' dash inserts; piano black centre console; the choice of exclusive Crimson Red paint and – of course – Wolfsburg crest badging. The other choices of exterior shades are pure white or Iridium Grey metallic.
The Wolfsburg Edition retains the Alltrack's formidable 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo diesel driven through a six-speed DSG transmission and 4Motion all-wheel-drive.
Currently available at $54,990 drive away, the Wolfsburg Edition's array of extra adds $4200 to the price of the standard Alltrack. The only option, a panoramic sunroof, is $2000.
"Wolfsburg special editions are now a feature of our passenger vehicle line-up," said Volkswagen Australia's General Manager of Marketing and Product Ben Wilks.
"The Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition extends the Passat line-up's already extraordinary breadth. From the 132TSI sedan at a bargain $34,990 to the executive express 206TSI wagon at $59,990, there really is a Passat for everyone."
