Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) Managing Director Paul Sansom has been elected to the board of the Electric Vehicle Council, promising to campaign for a nationally mandated Co2 target and EV charging capability in new residential and commercial buildings.
"Electric Vehicles are the form of personal mobility to meet the demands of urbanisation, sustainability and digitalisation – the three prevailing and irrevocable mega trends of life in our time," Mr Sansom said.

Volkswagen Group Australia calls for national focus on home charging for EVs and federal Co2 standard

Volkswagen Group Australia Managing Director Paul Sansom has called on the building industry and government to "liberate Australians from traditional filling stations with home EV charging".
In the keynote address at the Green Building Council's TRANSFORM 22 summit in Sydney, Mr Sansom said that the automotive and the building industries "are becoming increasingly and permanently interdependent".

Two new faces for Volkswagen Group Australia's Corporate Communications team

From February 28, Daniel DeGasperi is VGA's Product PR Communications Manager. Reporting to the VGA's General Manager of Corporate Communications, Paul Pottinger, Daniel brings 15 years' experience as a journalist and, over the past three years, the spokesman for Lexus Australia and senior account director of Havas. At VGA, Daniel will work with Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles and Commercial Vehicles, SKODA and CUPRA.
Roxanne Salzborn joins VGA on January 31 in the role of Group Communications Specialist. Previously Roxanne interned with Audi Australia's communications team since which she has worked with the solar company sonnenConnect. She will work with VGA's Corporate Communications Specialist Adriana Wahbe on brand and internal matters for Volkswagen, SKODA and CUPRA.

The NSW proposal, described by VGA as "world class", will go before parliament when sitting resumes. Meanwhile, it says, Victoria's "world's worst EV policy will continue to discourage customers south of the border".

The One Million Trees Project in the Eurardy Nature Reserve in Western Australia will receive $250,000 dollars and a project to restore 400 hectares in the Scottsdale Reserve in New South Wales will receive $750,000 dollars. "Although the world has been ravaged by the COVID 19 pandemic since the fires earlier this year, Volkswagen remains committed to supporting bush fire relief and restoration," said Michael Bartsch, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Australia. Bush Heritage Australia is an independent, not-for-profit national organisation that acquires and manages land and works with indigenous people to protect the local flora and fauna. Bush Heritage owns 37 nature reserves covering an area of 1.24 million hectares. Through its 25 Aboriginal partnerships, the organisation supports the management of an additional 10.1 million hectares.Â
