Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles next week releases the long-awaited new variant of its class leading Amarok V6.
The Sportline joins the Highline and Ultimate in the only V6 turbo diesel ute lineup at $55,490 RRP.
With 165kW and 550Nm (180kW on overboost) driven through an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive, V6 Amaroks are capable of reaching 100km/h from standing in 7.9 seconds.
The Amarok stops fastest too, being the only comparable vehicle with disc brakes on both front and rear wheels. Amarok is also the most practical; it alone fits a full-size pallet between the wheel arches.
The new Sportline represents the most accessible price point to date for an engine shared by Porsche and Audi luxury SUVs.
Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Carlos Santos said: "Amarok V6's technology derives wholly from within the Volkswagen Group. We have not had to look to Japan for a donor vehicle.
"Amarok remains the only V6 turbo diesel ute on the market, a space it alone will occupy for some time to come."
A six-speed manual Sportline V6 arrives in Australia next year.
