ANCAP, Australasia's independent voice on vehicle safety, has awarded a 5 star safety rating to all petrol, hybrid and PHEV variants of the Lexus NX.
The Medium SUV performed well across all key areas of assessment, achieving high scores for its protection of vehicle occupants, as well as other road users.

Upgraded models of the Volkswagen Polo – available to Australian customers from May 2022 – have undergone a fresh round of independent testing following the mid-life upgrade and again achieved five-star scores in all key areas of safety assessment.

Australasia's independent voice on vehicle safety, ANCAP, has today announced a 5 star safety rating for the Haval H6 following completion of the latest round of testing against the stringent 2020-2022 rating criteria.
The Haval H6 mid-sized SUV performed well across all areas of assessment, achieving solid scores for its protection of adult occupants, children, pedestrians and cyclists. The H6 also performed well for its ability to actively avoid or reduce the effects of a range of potential crashes through its onboard safety systems.

The Hyundai Staria and Staria-Load have today been awarded the maximum 5 star safety rating by ANCAP, Australasia's independent voice on vehicle safety. The eight-seat Hyundai Staria people mover scored well across all areas of assessment, with full points awarded in the side impact test for both adult and child occupants, and for the driver in both the full width frontal and mobile progressive deformable barrier (MPDB) tests. Submarining of the rear passenger's upper legs was noted in the full width frontal test and deductions were applied, however the vehicle still scored well in this test overall.

4 star safety rating for Citroën C4

Australasia's independent voice on vehicle safety, ANCAP, has today issued a 4 star safety rating for the recently-released Citroën C4 with performance falling short in three of the four key areas of safety assessment. The Citroën C4 - which was released into Australia this month and New Zealand in October - achieved scores of 76 per cent for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 81 per cent for Child Occupant Protection (COP), 57 per cent for Vulnerable Road User Protection (VRUP) and 62 per cent for Safety Assist. Child Occupant Protection was the only assessment area in which the C4 managed to reach five-star territory. The thresholds for achieving the market-expected five star rating were missed for the AOP, VRUP and Safety Assist pillars.

The Ute has been assessed against ANCAP's current and most stringent 2020-2022 test criteria, with models produced from August 2021 providing a high level of safety to occupants and other road users. The GWM Ute becomes the third vehicle in its segment to achieve 5 stars under the latest protocols.

Australasia's independent vehicle safety consumer advocate, ANCAP SAFETY, has today welcomed the announcement by the Australian Government to introduce an Australian Design Rule (ADR) mandating the fitment of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) in light vehicles. The new Australian Design Rule specifies the regulatory requirement for AEB systems to be fitted on newly-introduced vehicle models from March 2023, and all models on sale in Australia from March 2025 – slightly behind the European regulatory introduction timeframe of July 2022 and July 2024.
