The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) and independent vehicle safety authority ANCAP SAFETY are pleased to confirm a new partnership in 2019.
As part of the collaboration, the ANCAP SAFETY logo will adorn the Hyundai Safety Car at each Shannons Nationals event in 2019 – as well as ANCAP vehicle safety content to be included in the popular live stream highlighting their vehicle rating system, crash and collision avoidance tests and the importance of driving and using a safe vehicle.
CAMS Chief Executive Officer, Eugene Arocca welcomed ANCAP as CAMS' newest partner.
"Safety is obviously a top priority for everyone at CAMS in everything we do and this partnership with ANCAP builds further on our work in this important area," Mr Arocca said.
ANCAP Chief Executive James Goodwin said the organisation was pleased to be working with CAMS to extend its reach and encourage safety across a new audience encompassing motor sport competitors, spectators and officials.
"Safety must be the priority on the road and on the track," Mr Goodwin said.
"The Safety Car carries an intrinsic connection and our collaboration with CAMS serves to remind spectators that the same approach to survivability extends to our everyday cars."
"We've seen significant advancements in race and on-road safety features in recent years and these principles extend across both environments. A protective structure, on-board restraints and supporting infrastructure are all critical if the worst should happen," Mr Goodwin added.
Motor sport fans will get a chance to see ANCAP's work throughout Shannons Nationals events during 2019.
