Sydney 22-09-23 CUPRA – the cutting-edge challenger auto brand from Barcelona – has joined forces with Australian football's newest superstar, Mary Fowler.
The 20-year old Matilda and Manchester City midfielder has become a CUPRA brand ambassador. The brand is already the automotive sponsor of the Matildas, the Socceroos and the national youth team.
CUPRA's commitment to Fowler goes a little further than usual – the brand is not only giving her a Born EV to drive, it's teaching her to drive.
CUPRA is also providing a cashback offer to all customers with a Football Australia membership until the end of December 2023 to mark the recent history-making efforts of the Matildas.
So rapid and complete has been Fowler's rise, so consuming has been her quest to making it at one of the world's biggest club, that she's not been able to do what most teenagers do – go through the L and P plate stages.
"Mary's first experience of driving herself will be in an electric vehicle, one that happens to be among the most praised and awarded in the world today," CUPRA Australia Director, Ben Wilks, said.
"Mary's journey to the pinnacle of world of football has inspired us all at CUPRA Australia. Hers is a trajectory that we aspire to emulate. And just as no-one would bet against Mary being a fixture on the world stage during the coming decade, CUPRA is intent on growing exponentially in Australia."
Ms Fowler said she identified with CUPRA's approach to originality and not trying to be all things to all people. "That's an attitude I associate with and how I want to be known," said Miss Fowler.
"The inspiration behind the design approach and the ambition to bring excitement to electric cars is how I see my role as a professional football player; to inspire others to strive for their dreams."
CUPRA's commitment to innovation and sustainability resonated with the Matildas' star.
"CUPRA is supporting me as I learn to drive and get behind the wheel of the CUPRA Born, something I'm very grateful for," she said. "It feels like an authentic story to share, and I respect the brand for that."
To celebrate CUPRA Australia's new ambassador, it is offering until December 31 a $500 cashback to any customer, or immediate family member, with a paid 2023 Football Australia Club player registration.
That applies to select models within the CUPRA range –Leon hatchback, Ateca SUV and the best-selling Formentor crossover.
One customer also stands to win a playing short signed by the Matildas.
"Australia's national football teams have brought the nation together: the Socceroos in Qatar late last year; the Matildas here this year," Mr Wilks said.
"CUPRA is honoured to be associated with both national teams and delighted to share this opportunity with Australian footballers at all levels and their families."
