Citroën was founded in 1919 by French industrialist and marketing genius André-Gustave Citroën, launching its first vehicle the Type A. From there on, Citroën established itself as a marque that challenged industry norms to deliver stylish and innovative vehicles inspired by the people.

Over its 100 year existence, Citroën can lay claim to a multitude of industry and design firsts including the first: European all-steel-car, mass produced front-wheel drive vehicle, unitary-bodied vehicle, vehicle with hydropneumatic suspension, production car with disc-brakes, mass-produced vehicle with swivel type headlamps and first roof mounted airbag.

The brand isn't just revered for its innovation, but also its iconic model catalogue including the Traction Avant, H-Type Van, 2CV, DS (affectionately known as the Goddess), CX, SM and numerous others that can be explored here. (link to Citroën Origins).

This innovative spirit is also backed up with motorsport success. Citroën is the only automobile manufacturer to have won three different official championships including; the World Rally Raid Championship five times, the World Rally Championship eight times and the World Touring Car Championship.

Today, Citroën continues to innovate, with vehicles such as the C3, C4 Cactus, Grand Picasso and forthcoming C3 Aircross benefitting from their iconic forbearers.

In 2016, Citroen's parent company renamed to become Groupe PSA – reflecting the acquisition of Opel and Vauxhall from General Motors, with Groupe PSA now responsible for Peugeot, Citroen, Opel and Vauxhall.
