Australia, May 24, 2018 – Audi Australia has announced that orders are open for the newest addition to the highly successful Q5 model range. The all-new second-generation Audi Q5 luxury SUV was launched in July 2017, with 2.0 TDI and TFSI four-cylinder engines, however, a new top-of-the range 3.0 TDI V6 model is now also available for ordering. The first customer arrivals will begin in September 2018.
"The second-generation Audi Q5 has followed in the footsteps of its enormously successful predecessor," said Shawn Ticehurst, Director of Product and Pricing at Audi Australia.
"The 2.0 TDI and TFSI four-cylinder engines have impressed owners with their versatility of use – a great balance between performance and efficiency. However, our customers have been clear in expressing their desire for an even more powerful model in the range, and so we are delighted to add the new 3.0 TDI V6 to our Q5 line-up to satisfy those customers."
With 210kW and a full 620Nm available from just 1500 rpm, the all-new 3.0 TDI diesel engine has enormous pulling power that makes it the perfect engine for the demands of towing. Athletic acceleration is assured, reaching 100km/h from rest in just 5.8 seconds. This is not to the detriment of fuel economy, with an ADR combined consumption figure of just 6.3 litres per 100km.
Power from the 3.0 TDI V6 engine is channelled through the slick, smooth-shifting eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission, and then through the proven quattro all-wheel drive system with a mechanical centre differential that distributes torque 40:60 front-to-rear under normal driving conditions.
The Audi Q5 3.0 TDI has been awarded a 5-star EuroNCAP and ANCAP safety rating, thanks to an impressive array of standard safety and driver assistance features.
These include:
- Audi pre-sense city with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and pedestrian detection (up to 85 km/h)
- Exit warning system
- Cross traffic assist
- Audi side assist blind spot warning system
- Audi active lane assist
- Audi pre-sense basic (belt tensioning, window closing and other preventative measures if an emergency is detected)

The Q5 3.0 TDI sets the benchmark in the premium segment in the field of progressive technology, particularly in the areas of infotainment and connectivity.
The renowned 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit is equipped as standard, working in combination with MMI navigation plus. The latter includes an 8.3-inch high-resolution screen, MMI touch, DVD player and 5 included map updates, 3D maps, live traffic info and natural voice recognition for hands free control. In addition, Audi connect is a standard feature, which enables a high-speed 4G LTE connection via a regular data SIM card, as well as Google Earth and Google Search functionality. Audi smartphone interface allows connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and is standard on all Q5 models.
The Q5 3.0 TDI offers an additional 10 litres of luggage space in comparison with its predecessor, meaning between 550-610 litres of space is available, depending on how the optional sliding rear seat bench is positioned. With the seats folded, a capacious 1,550 litres of luggage space is available.
The Q5 3.0 TDI comes standard with an electric tailgate, activated by a sensor-controlled 'kick motion'. A myriad of Audi options and genuine accessories are also available to allow owners to integrate their active lifestyle with their Q5, like a luggage-securing kit with load rails in the boot floor, bike racks, a kayak holder, aerodynamic roof box and many others.
