- New Audi S4/S5 boasts exceptional value
Zetland, December 14, 2020 – Audi Australia welcomes the arrival of its athletic mid-size siblings, the refreshed Audi S4 and Audi S5. Although they differ in their various body styles, their sporting prowess is the key quality they have in common.
"The arrival of the refreshed Audi S4 and S5 models completes the range, highlighting there is brains behind the brawn with an incredible combination of athleticism and digital innovation," said Paul Sansom, Managing Director of Audi Australia.
A combination of high-tech luxury with a visceral edge, the new Audi S4 and S5 model range shows off a dynamic new design, available in five body styles across the range: including S4 Sedan, S4 Avant, S5 Sportback, S5 Coupé and the S5 Cabriolet.
The 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine in the Audi S4 and Audi S5 produces 260kW, while peak torque of 500Nm is available from as low as 1370rpm. Such spontaneous response is aided by the twin-scroll turbocharger's location inside the 90-degree vee, which ensures the shortest possible travel paths for exhaust gases to pass through. Acceleration to 100km/h from rest is rapid, in as little as 4.7 seconds.
Efficiency is also assured, at just 8.6L/100km for the S4 sedan, thanks in part to its clever B-cycle combustion method.
To harness the incredible power of the engine, the new S4 and S5 model variants are equipped with a fast-shifting eight-speed tiptronic transmission, directing power to the road via Audi quattro permanent all-wheel drive for superb handling and traction. The self-locking centre differential is able to direct 40 percent of the torque to the front axle and 60 percent to the rear in normal driving conditions, with up to 85 percent directed to the rear wheels if the road conditions demand it. The optional quattro sport differential can provide further adjustment, directing almost all of the rear axle's torque to either wheel during particularly dynamic driving.
S-specific sport suspension with adaptive damper control ensures the perfect compromise between comfortable ride and dynamic performance is ever-present.
Unashamedly sporty, the new S4 and S5 create a powerful presence on the road, boasting an eloquent exterior design. Piercing Matrix LED headlights with dynamic indicators are standard on the S5, illuminating the road ahead. The S4 offers standard 19-inch Audi sport alloy wheels in matt titanium gloss finish, drawing attention to the distinctive red brake calipers. Meanwhile, the S5 boasts standard 20-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels in gloss-look anthracite black, emphasising red calipers, embossed with an S logo.
Unique styling features on S4 and S5 visually illustrate the performance credentials that lay under the bonnet, such as the rear lip spoiler on the Sedan, Avant, Sportback, and Coupé body styles, privacy glass, acoustic glazing and bold, aluminium-look exterior mirror caps. The standard metallic paint finish complements the sophisticated, yet sporty charm.
Additionally, the new S4 Avant variant builds on the standard features with design flourishes that highlight its versatile proficiencies, such as aluminium roof rails and the electric tailgate with its electrically retractable luggage cover, as well as the gesture controlled power tailgate that will conveniently open and close the compartment with subtle movements. The gesture controlled power tailgate is also featured on the S5 Sportback
Inside the cabin, intuitive technology creates the quintessential digital assistant with the seamless integration of Audi smartphone interface via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unique displays in the standard Audi virtual cockpit plus provide all necessary information for the driver, enhanced by the new 10.1-inch high-resolution MMI touch display. With its crystal clear 1,540 x 720 pixel resolution, the beautifully crafted display is seamlessly integrated into the dashboard, and is only 13mm slender. Despite this, it is a powerful platform that commands all manner of convenient 'touch or talk' driving, infotainment and connectivity functions, including the Bang & Olufsen 3D premium sound system (19 speakers, 755W).
The interior of the S4 and S5 models set a fine standard in luxury, with heated S sports front seats upholstered in Fine Nappa leather, complete with electric adjustment (including lumbar) and massage function. Stainless steels pedals and the extended upholstery package adds to the cabin's sophisticated air.
To experience the incredible pleasure of driving an open-top sports cars, the new S5 Cabriolet offers an automatic acoustic folding hood that can open within 15-seconds, at speeds of up to 50 km/h.
On top of this, a full suite of driver assistance systems are standard in the new S4 and S5 range. Highlight features include Audi drive select with five option modes, park assist, 360-degree cameras for outstanding visibility when manoeuvring, adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go and traffic jam assist, exit warning and rear cross traffic assist and the adjustable speed limiter and lane change warning detections offering a range of functions such as side assist, turn assist and collision avoidance assist.
The new S4 Sedan, S5 Sportback and S5 Coupé are available for further customisation with the optional Carbon and black styling package. The S4 and S5 variants all offer a selection of three interior colours.
The new S4 and S5 models are offered with the comprehensive Audi service plan package, priced at $2,950 for five years.
The new Audi S4 Sedan, S4 Avant, S5 Sportback, S5 Coupé and S5 Cabriolet models are available in dealerships now, and also available to order through the Audi online purchase platform, at audi.com.au.
