Zetland, August 7, 2020 – Audi Australia is welcoming the arrival of its newly refreshed Audi A4 model range in the three body styles: the Sedan, Avant and allroad quattro. The A4 has long been the benchmark in its segment for cohesive design, superior technology and powerful yet efficient engines. In all aspects, the new Audi A4 is even more dynamic.
"The award-winning Audi A4 range is now in refreshed form and it's better than ever," said Paul Sansom, Managing Director of Audi Australia.
"The three A4 body styles have been popular for generations, and we are pleased to be able to offer them in a dynamic new style, with outstanding equipment and technology that takes the premium segment to a new level," said Sansom.
The multi-award winning Audi A4 epitomises the core of the Audi brand and returns in its fifth generation, showing off a dynamic new design inside and out, available in three body styles that seamlessly combine form and function, depending on individual customer tastes: including the A4 Sedan, Avant, and the rugged-yet sophisticated A4 allroad. The new model range comprises of three 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines: two TFSI petrol engine variants equipped with 12V mild-hybrid technology (MHEV), in addition to an efficient TDI diesel engine that is exclusive to the allroad quattro. The MHEV system contributes up to 0.3L/100km fuel saving.
Even the entry level A4 35 TFSI Sedan variant is powered by a 2.0 TFSI engine, producing 110kW and a substantial 270Nm from just 1350rpm. Matched to a 7-speed S tronic transmission and front-wheel drive, it achieves comparable fuel efficiency to its predecessor, at just 6.1L/100km.
The 45 TFSI engine variant is the most popular variant in the A4 range, and is available in all bodystyles. It produces 183kW of power, with peak torque of 370Nm, delivering decidedly sporty performance. The 0-100km/h sprint is dispatched in 5.8 seconds in the Sedan, while delivering good fuel economy of just 7.1L/100km.
The 40 TDI engine in the A4 allroad quattro produces 140kW and 400Nm, with its 5.2L/100km fuel consumption delivering outstanding range.
Both the 40 TDI and 45 TFSI engines are perfectly matched to the sure-footed quattro all-wheel drivetrain for excellent road-holding, channelling power through a 7-speed S tronic transmission. In addition, the 45 TFSI engine features ultra technology, which predictively activates the quattro drive enhancing fuel efficiency.
Visually, the new Audi A4 looks even more dynamic and sophisticated thanks to the sportier design highlights. The powerful presence of the new A4 represents the new Audi design language, with almost every sheet metal part altered. The Singleframe grille is now broader and flatter, with horizontal lines that emphasise its width. The profile of the A4 is defined by muscular guards and the lower set shoulder line in-between. Together, they form strong contours above the wheels and make the quattro genes outwardly visible. The rear has markedly three-dimensional design that accentuates the impression of width, with trapezoidal tailpipe trims embedded into the lower diffuser.
In comparison to the predecessor models, the new A4 Sedan and A4 Avant have grown 24 millimetres longer and 5 millimetres wider, while the A4 allroad flaunts larger wheel arches for increased versatility.
The new LED headlights, fitted as standard to all models, give the A4 a fresh face, while the new LED taillights enhance the A4's presence on the road. Large 19-inch alloy wheels are also fitted to all the A4 Sedan and Avant body styles as standard, with different styles from the Audi Sport range complementing each variant.
The intelligent, ergonomic interior design of the new A4 models is elegant and modern, embracing the very latest in functionality. The highlight of the minimalist new configuration is the 10.1-inch MMI touch display with a crystal clear 1,540 x 720 pixel resolution. It is beautifully crafted into the dashboard, and is only 13mm slender, yet despite this, it is a powerful platform has now 10 times more computing power than its predecessor. The refreshed environment commands all manner of convenient 'touch or talk' driving, infotainment and connectivity functions.
Audi connect plus functionality facilitates seamless integration of online traffic, weather conditions, fuel prices, parking information and Google Maps into the A4 driving experience, together with additional functions enabled through the myAudi smartphone app like remote lock/unlock, destination send-to-car function, service request, emergency call and more.
