Corporate History

Mahindra Automotive Australia Pty Ltd (MAAPL) is a 100% owned subsidiary of Indian auto manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Limited.   Mahindra & Mahindra Limited in 2012 was ranked number 26 on the world ranking of Vehicle Manufacturers with 606,418 Global Production (429,101 Passenger Cars, 173,083 Light Commercials,3,461 Heavy Commercial Vehicles & 773 Heavy Bus) Source OICA.  The company has aspirations to be a top 20 globally recognized vehicle manufacturer by 2020.

M&M entered the Australian market in 2007 with the launch of the Mahindra Pik-Up which was distributed by TMI Pacific (a division of the Tynan Motor Group). In 2011 this joint venture was bought back as a 100% owned subsidiary of M&M Ltd.  Mahindra vehicles are now imported and distributed by its 100% subsidiary MAAPL based in Brisbane. Having proven itself under the toughest of Australian conditions, the Mahindra brand has garnered a strong consumer following and advocacy in the market.

MAAPL currently market three model lines in Australia - Pik-Up – Farming, 4x4 Enthusiast and Family sector targeted vehicle, the highest ANCAP Indian built vehicle the 4-star rated XUV500, a family 7 seat Diesel SUV and the Genio, the trade focused work ute with industry leading 2.7 metre tray length and 1.2 tonne payload.  M&M has invested over US$1 Billion in new vehicle R&D and 2015-2020 represents an exciting time for MAAPL as they bring to market many new models from the companies high tech factories in India. www.mahindraauto.com.au

Mahindra Aerospace In 2009, the company acquired two Australian aviation companies - Aerostaff Australia (AA) which is a component manufacturer of high-precision close-tolerance aircraft components and assemblies for large aerospace OEMs and Gippsland Aeronautics (GA) one of Australia's most reputed aircraft producers. www.mahindraaerospace.com  

Mahindra Tractors started its operations in Australia in 2005 by setting up its assembly facility in Brisbane and has since acquired a strong position in the Australian tractor industry.
