Volvo Car Australia is continuing its record-breaking sales run, recording its highest monthly sales on record in June.
National sales data released by VFACTs show Volvo delivered 1174 cars in June, eclipsing the previous record of 1121 cars set a month earlier in May by 53 cars.
In June Volvo's multi award-winning XC40 was ranked No.3 in the luxury compact SUV segment with 494 sales thus maintaining its position as the best-selling luxury compact SUV in Australia. XC40 Recharge Pure Electric already contributing over 18% of the overall XC40 volume YTD. Volvo's XC90 and XC60 models also hold top 3 and 4 positions respectively in June in the medium and large SUV segments.
"With two consecutive months of Australian record sales Volvo Cars is well on track for a record-breaking year in 2022," said Managing Director, Stephen Connor.
"In June the overall Australian car market declined by nearly 10%, and the luxury segment declined by 4%. By comparison we increased our sales by 8.4%.
"June was another strong performance but what is even more pleasing for me is that our Volvo Cars national dealer network continues to write new orders in record numbers. Whilst I foresee a slight dip in delivery numbers for July and August due to the ongoing global supply challenges, we have been guaranteed
a record number of cars arriving from September which will see us close out the year with yet another double-digit growth."
"That growth will be bolstered by the introduction of our C40 Recharge Pure Electric that together with record numbers of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric will see our electric vehicles represent well over thirty percent of our overall volume for the last quarter of the year."
"From the outset I have maintained that Volvo is on a trajectory of significant growth and the now documented results reinforce Volvo's standing as one of Australia's fastest growing luxury car brands that is fully committed to a Pure-Electric strategy that will see us leading not only our global ambition but the industry here on our shores" concluded Mr. Connor.
