The Volvo S60 Polestar has now become even more accessible thanks to a price realignment.

Following the on-track success of Scott McLaughlin and the Volvo Polestar Racing team in the V8 Supercars Championship, Volvo's most potent road car is now available from $99,950.

"Interest in the S60 nameplate has increased significantly since the start of our V8 Supercars Championship program, and as Polestar's test market we are delighted to be at the forefront of Polestar's global development in motorsport and high-performance road cars," said Matt Braid, Volvo Car Australia Managing Director.

"We are fully committed to the S60 Polestar and said at the very start of this journey that we would listen carefully to feedback in order to make this car a success and capitalise on our V8 Supercars program.

"So while the first S60 Polestar was incredibly well-received, we haven't rested on our laurels. Instead, we've made improvements to the brakes, gearbox and seats for the next-generation S60 Polestar cars.

"Like every manufacturer, we also closely monitor our competitive set, so in respect of recent adjustments made elsewhere, we've reduced the Manufacturer's List Price of the S60 Polestar down to $99,950.

"We believe this realignment, combined with the improvements of the next-generation car, make the Volvo S60 Polestar a truly viable alternative in the high-performance, luxury sedan segment."

To recap, improvements to the next-generation Volvo S60 Polestar are wide-ranging. The six-cylinder turbo-charged T6 engine has been optimised by Polestar with a bigger turbo, new intercooler, revised engine mapping and racing exhaust to produce 257kW and 500Nm.

The six-speed automatic gearbox has also been Polestar-optimised, which means quick-shift gearchanges via the new gearshift paddles. In conjunction with the launch control - and Polestar-optimised Haldex AWD system - the S60 Polestar will accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds, and on to a limited top speed of 250km/h.

Chassis upgrades include modifications to increase the rigidity of the chassis, with 80 percent stiffer springs relative to a standard S60 T6 R-Design. These changes combined, with the tailored high-performance +âGÇôhlins shock absorbers and 19" Polestar graphite alloy wheels result in a precise, yet comfortable, ride.

The brake system has also undergone modifications for this latest incarnation. The S60 Polestar now boasts six-piston Brembo calipers, 370mm ventilated floating discs with high performance pads front and rear, providing superior braking performance with no fade.

To reflect the increased performance of the S60 Polestar, positive aerodynamic effects have been achieved through subtle, yet efficient, modifications based on data from tests in the Volvo Cars wind tunnel. The changes are visible with the front splitters, optimising the airflow underneath the car, as well as a new rear spoiler and diffuser, increasing downforce.

The race-track inspired dynamics are matched by a long list of luxury features as standard:
