The Volvo Car Corporation has built a mini Volvo XC90 to help athletes during the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. The car, a 1:5 scale model of a Volvo XC90, transports javelins, hammers and disci during competition.

The little XC90 wheels around the athletics field to collect the throwing equipment and deliver it back to the thrower.

Volvo Cars has hand-built four unique small bodies, mounted on electrically driven chassis developed by the Nordic Sport company. The radio-controlled Volvo with a 2hp electric motor can carry a maximum load of either four disci, three javelins or two hammers.

By the way, two hammers weigh, in total, 14 kilos! The little XC90 has been greatly appreciated when, fully loaded and at a speed of 20 km/h, it scampers over the grass at the Ullevi Athletics Stadium.
