Subaru has announced the rally-bred Model Year 2005 Impreza WRX STi will feature a raft of refinements including a driver control centre differential (DCCD) when it goes on sale in August.
The DCCD allows drivers to literally "dial-up" their preferred torque split, aiding optimum handling.
The addition of a yaw rate sensor, used in automatic DCCD mode, ensures optimum torque split when cornering.
The sensor provides input to the DCCD Control Module to electronically track vehicle rotation rate about its centre of gravity.
Also new is a front helical limited slip differential.
Combined, these features boost Impreza WRX STi's legendary handling package to a superior level.
Nick Senior, General Manager, Subaru Australia, said: "We're virtually out of model year 2004 STis and our supplies will be short for the first few months of the new model, so we are encouraging people to place orders now so they can avoid a wait.
"I've been fortunate enough to drive the MY05 car in Japan and the DCCD and redesigned front LSD make STi's handling even better, which is remarkable, considering its already outstanding reputation."
MY05 Impreza WRX STi pricing will be announced closer to launch date.
"With other new features including redesigned wheels and suspension changes, it'll make a remarkably good value package," added Mr Senior.
The turbocharged Impreza WRX STi draws directly on technologies used in Subaru's world-beating rally cars, including the Group N production cars, which have made Subaru Rally Team Australia the most successful in the history of the national championship.
