Subaru this week unveiled the latest variant in its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Impreza range, the Impreza XV hatch, at the Geneva Motor Show.
It combines agile road performance with the recreational styling that made the earlier generation Impreza RV and Sportswagon major Subaru successes in Australia.
Impreza XV will be launched in Australia in the third quarter of the year, with the 2.0 litre four-cylinder horizontally opposed Boxer engine shared with the Impreza R, RX and RS.
Australian versions will be optimized for local conditions by having a greater ride height than the European specification cars shown in Geneva.
Among the features unique to Impreza XV are wheel arch extensions, roof rails, grille, and interior trim.
Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said: "We're delighted to be adding the Impreza XV to our range mid-year.
"This is an exciting model for us because it will broaden our appeal, particularly with younger audiences looking for a car that combines fun and safety.
"The current generation Impreza is the best seller of any to date and we're confident that Impreza XV will add to that success, given the earlier achievements of recreation-themed versions of the car."
Pricing and volume expectations will be announced at a later date.
