Sales of Subaru's multi-award winning BRZ sports coupe have
revealed some departures from the brand's traditional sales trends,
according to figures released today.
Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia are proving
exceptionally strong markets for BRZ, selling well above the usual
Subaru ratios.
Victoria accounts for 17 per cent of BRZ sales, compared to the
average Subaru figure of 12 per cent across all other models.
WA is also a strong BRZ performer, with 13 per cent, versus
eight per cent on the rest of the Subaru range.
SA represents nine per cent of BRZ sales, against six per cent
for the balance of the range.
However, the figure is starkly reversed in Tasmania, which only
accounts for one per cent of BRZ sales, compared to three percent
for the range.
Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said: "It goes
to show that Tasmania prefers their All-Wheel Drive Subarus!"
He added: "The over-representation of BRZ sales in Melbourne and
Perth is not a surprise. "Historically, performance WRX and WRX STI
sales have also been significantly stronger in these regions.
"Indeed, the surge in WRX sales, which began in 1997, was first
noted in Perth, then Melbourne."
