- SRAU donates 'humidicrib' to RPA's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit valued at $26,820.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation and Sumitomo Rubber Australia (SRAU) will be making a significant difference to the lives of children in the inner city area with the donation of a much-needed Isolette 8000 Incubator valued at $26,820 to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Paul Francis and Kenichi Furuhama – Managing Director of Sumitomo Rubber Australia - officially presented Royal Prince Alfred Hospital's Dahlia Brigham with the Isolette 8000 Incubator. Premature and sick babies have an increased risk of complications due to low birth weight. The Isolette 8000 Incubator helps these babies with oxygen therapy, treats jaundice and protects against infection. It maintains the correct temperature to keep babies warm and helps clinicians to monitor the babies until they reach a safe weight and their vital organs are strong.
Since the establishment of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation in 1996, this children's charity has now raised $50 million and continues to make a significant impact on the lives of sick and injured children at children's hospitals and health service centres in every state of Australia. On average the Humpty Dumpty Foundation purchases 330 pieces of medical equipment each year and provides funding for numerous special projects including a paediatric fellowship (graduate doctor training), a part-time Nurse Educator for training in emergency paediatrics, a part-time Bio Mechanical Engineer and weekly visits by the "Clown Doctors" and the magical Fairy Gardens (which encourage and promote healing).
To date, 241 hospitals across the nation have benefited from the life-saving medical equipment received specifically to care for children and babies provided by the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and its amazing "Good Eggs" supporters.
