- Sumitomo Rubber Australia & Falken Tyres V8 Supercars ambassador Scott McLaughlin presents Bilisoft LED Phototherapy System valued at $9,680.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation and Sumitomo Rubber Australia will be making a significant difference to the lives of children in the Bathurst region with the donation of a much-needed Bilisoft LED Phototherapy System valued at $9,680 to Bathurst Base Hospital's Maternity Services Ward.
In the lead up to this year's Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 race event, Scott McLaughlin has taken time out from his busy schedule to officially present Bathurst Base Hospital's Sue Patterson and Rene Sharp with the Bilisoft LED Phototherapy System.
Jaundice, or yellowing of the skin and eyes, occurs in approximately 50% of full-term babies and 80% of pre-term babies in their first week of life. If undetected, it can cause cerebral palsy, deafness and/or brain damage. The Bilisoft LED Phototherapy System is used to treat jaundice, with the baby wrapped in the therapy blanket and kept at the mother's bedside.
"Sumitomo Rubber Australia has become a generous supporter of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and this donation is testament to their ongoing goodwill in the Bathurst community. Sumitomo Rubber Australia's continued support to families in our local communities means children have access to medical equipment that is very much needed by the medical staff and most of all that is life-saving. We are thrilled to have Falken Tyres V8 Supercars ambassador Scott McLaughlin join us in presenting this equipment to Bathurst Base Hospital and appreciate him taking time out from his busy schedule to be a part of this significant donation to the Maternity Services Ward," said Paul Francis OAM, Humpty Dumpty Foundation Founder and Chairman.
Since the establishment of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation in 1996, this children's charity has now raised $50 million and continues to make a significant impact on the lives of sick and injured children at children's hospitals and health service centres in every state of Australia. On average the Humpty Dumpty Foundation purchases 330 pieces of medical equipment each year and provides funding for numerous special projects. To date, 241 hospitals across the nation have benefited from the life-saving medical equipment received specifically to care for children and babies provided by the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and its supporters.
