ŠKODA has responded to buyer demand by giving its Superb 206TSI the look its performance deserves.
For $1000 above the big car class-leading 206TSI sedan and wagon, the new ŠKODA Superb SportLine adds a rich array of cool black accents and trim within and outside.
To the Superb's exterior, the SportLine adds: badging on the front fenders; black door mirrors; black rear diffuser with chrome-twin exhausts; black rear spoiler sedan (wagon in body colour, but with black roof rails); black grille; black side strips and 19" SportLine exclusive anthracite alloys.
Open the door and the look continues with: SportLine dash cluster; sports seats with alcantara inserts; three-spoke, flat bottom steering wheel in perforated leather and silver stitching; dash strip in Black Cube finish with SportLine badging; aluminium pedal covers; alcantara inserts in door trims; black ceiling liner and a customisable performance monitor with lap timer.
The SportLine runs the potent 206kW/350Nm 2.0 litre turbo four via a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel-drive. Capable of 0-100km/h time of 5.8 seconds, it can return 7.3L/100km in combined conditions.
ŠKODA Australia Managing Director Michael Irmer said that the SportLine's introduction was yet another instance of Australian customers pushing the European brand up-market.
"Our customers want 'Christmas trees', with all the latest available technology coming out of Europe" Mr Irmer said. "More than 90 per cent of them specify Tech and Comfort packages.
"If you set aside perception and deal in reality, the Superb in all its forms is substantially the best big car buy on the market. We're seeing that here and in Europe our still young, challenger model is being compared with prestige brands such as Mercedes-Benz.
"Even in our most affordable models, rear seat and back row passengers need never face an Australian summer without their own air vents and independent temperature control settings – a bizarre omission by some of our affordable rivals."
The sleek Superb SportLine sedan and wagon are precursors of ŠKODA's 2017 model roll out, which include the introduction in July of the ground-breaking Kodiaq seven-seat SUV, plus the New Octavia including the exhilarating RS and rugged Scout. Next year sees the "all-new" Yeti Medium SUV.
All new ŠKODAs come with a five year, unlimited kilometre, factory backed warranty. A Guaranteed Future Value program is also available.
