Volvo Car Australia has continued its strong momentum in 2021 by notching up another impressive sales increase in February.
National sales data released by VFACTs show Volvo sold 822 cars in February, which represents a 28% increase compared to 12 months ago. Volvo's year-to-date sales are up by 36% after three successive months of strong growth in the luxury SUV segment.
"Today's national sales data shows Volvo continues to out-perform its competitors in the luxury SUV segment," said Stephen Connor, who took over as new Managing Director on January 1.
"In February the overall Australian car market grew by 5.1% and is up nearly 8% year to date. By comparison Volvo has achieved a growth rates of 34%, 45% and 28% over the past three months.
"It is very pleasing to note that Volvo is only one of two car brands in the luxury segment that is achieving consistent double-digit growth. This reinforces Volvo's standing as one of the fastest growing luxury car brands in Australia."
Volvo holds top 3 positions in the luxury compact and medium SUV segments, and a top 4 position in the large SUV segment.
Volvo has revealed its 2022 model range due to launch in July 2021 will only be pure electric, mild-hybrid or plug-in hybrid as the company forges ahead with its electrification strategy.
This week the company reinforced its commitment to an all-electric future by announcing it will sell only electric cars by 2030.
In Q3 2021 Volvo will launch its first all-electric car, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, which will be the first of five all-electric models to be launched over the next five years.
During 2021 Volvo will expand its retail footprint with the addition of three new Volvo Retail Experience dealerships in Queensland and Victoria, as well as a new training centre in Sydney.
