Christmas has arrived early in Galiwin'ku with Jaguar Land Rover donating a Land Rover Freelander 2 SUV to the Cathy Freeman Foundation to support program delivery. This gift will ensure the Cathy Freeman Foundation can deliver education programs in an effective and efficient manner to 500 students and families in this remote community on Elcho Island in the Northern Territory.

This generous donation is part of an ongoing partnership with Jaguar Land Rover that commenced in 2012 with the donation of a Land Rover Freelander 2 on Palm Island which has been critical to the success of the Foundation's delivery of education programs.

The Cathy Freeman Foundation helps 1600 Indigenous children experience their potential in school, and beyond across four remote Indigenous communities in Palm Island and Woorabinda in Queensland and Wurrummiyanga and Galwin'ku in the Northern Territory.

The delivery of education programs to remote communities involves complex logistics and the arrival of the Freelander2 will enable improved management for Galiwin'ku Programs Coordinator, Evelyna Dhamarrandji.

The CEO of the Cathy Freeman Foundation, Jamie Howden, said the relationship with Jaguar Land Rover is both vital and valuable.

"The arrival of the car means we can access community members and transport resources much faster than in the past, and this is a big challenge to overcome when working with remote partner communities.
When students and family members see the Cathy Freeman Foundation car pass by, they will also know that we are committed partners to their community," said Jamie Howden.

"We're thrilled to continue a longstanding partnership with the great team at Jaguar Land Rover as they have truly gone above and beyond for our partner communities. It is terrific to align with a brand that is internationally respected for the design and technology of its vehicles, and values the importance of education for Indigenous children as much as we do."

Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Australia, Matthew Wiesner, commented "We are delighted to be able to provide the Cathy Freeman Foundation with additional support for driving Indigenous Education" Program.

The donation of a second Land Rover vehicle to the Foundation will greatly assist the Galiwin'ku program coordinators' to deliver vital education programs to Indigenous children in the remote areas of Northern Territory."
