Volvo Car Australia has underlined its status as one of Australia's fastest growing luxury
car brands after recording its biggest ever sales month during July on the back of 14
months of strong growth.
Volvo sold 529 cars in July, which was a record 22.5% sales increase compared to July,
2015, according to national sales figures released by VFACTs yesterday. Year to date
Volvo has sold 3373 cars locally, which is a 24% increase in sales over the previous 12
months.
"Our record July follows solid and sustained sales growth over the past 14 months", said
Kevin McCann, Managing Director of Volvo Car Australia. "Globally, Volvo has
repositioned itself as a luxury European car brand, and it's very pleasing that this is
paying dividends with very strong sales".
"We are particularly proud to have recorded exceptionally strong sales for the awardwinning
Volvo XC90 luxury SUV". Sales of XC90 were up 188% in July, and are up 318%
year to date.
"Since it was launched in August 2015 the XC90 has set the benchmark in the luxury 7-
seater SUV category. It is fantastic to see such a great response from Australian car
buyers to the XC90".
"Volvo's sales performance over the past 14 months reinforces our position as one of
the fastest growing luxury car brands in Australia", Mr McCann said.
Volvo's record sales in Australia mirrors strong growth globally, with the Volvo Group
recording a 9.3% increase in sales during July after 14 months of consecutive sales
growth.
Sales of the all-new Volvo XC90 were the main growth driver globally, while the Volvo
XC60 continues to be the best-selling model overall. Global growth for the first seven
months was 10.3 per cent.
