The Subaru do™ Motorsport Team has revealed that its car colour scheme will change for each event in this year's Kumho Australian Rally Championship.
Debuting with Molly Taylor behind the wheel at this weekend's first outing, the Quit Forest Rally in Busselton, Western Australia, the production class WRX STI sports the "surfer" theme seen on the promotional car initially used to highlight Subaru's re-entry to the sport.
But enthusiasts keen to capture the detail will need to be quick – the entire scheme will change for round two of the Championship, the National Capital Rally, ACT, from May 27-29.
Subaru Australia Managing Director, Nick Senior, said: "Each event will see Molly's Subaru WRX STI in a livery that pays homage to key lifestyle or recreational activities held in that area.
"For this event we've used the surfing theme, obviously a tie-in with the world-class breaks that the Margaret River is renowned for.
"The chameleon theme is a nod to our brand positioning – Subaru do.
"Subaru is a 'do-ing' company. We stand for action – so do our cars – enabling our customers to do more and get more out of life.
"So at every event, Molly's Subaru will appear with a lifestyle or recreational theme that will resonate with our customers.
"We are going to have a lot of fun with this – there will be the odd surprise and perhaps even a special announcement along the way!"
The colour scheme is achieved using a special "wrap" around the car's panels, applied in the team's headquarters at Les Walkden Rallying, outside Launceston, in Tasmania.
Mr Senior added: "it'll be an interesting guessing game for the fans in the Subaru blue army to try and work out what the themes will be for Canberra and beyond!"
On the eve of the first event, Molly and co-driver Bill Hayes report further progress in testing on the challenging WA dirt.
Molly said: "We've managed a few more hours and while the surfaces here are completely different to Northern Tasmania, we've learned a lot and our previous experience rallying in WA is also a bonus."
Quit Forest Rally gets underway tomorrow evening with two short Super Special Stage bursts in Busselton, before the transit to Nannup Service, followed by eight more Heat One stages on Saturday and nine Heat Two stages on Sunday.
